The First Administration of Porfirio Diaz

General Porfirio Diaz revolted again, proclaiming the Tuxtepec Plan, on March 21, 1876. The Lerdistas were defeated at Tecoac, Tlaxcala and, without resigning the presidency, Lerdo de Teiada went into exile on November 20.

February 11, 1877, General Diaz became provisional president of Mexico, and was appointed officially on May 5. The Constitution was amended to accept the proposal of the Tuxtepec Plan prohibiting reelection to the presidency.
