The Angeles Verde (green angels) is a government regulated operation set up to patrol the highways of Mexico. Trained in auto repair and first aid, they travel in bilingual teams of two, providing professional assistance to anyone along the main highways in distress. They perform minor repairs on the spot for the cost of the parts and can provide towing if necessary. Their trucks are equipped with first-aid supplies, short wave radio, a variety of common auto parts and extra gasoline. If they can't fix your problem and towing is not an option, they can give you a ride and arrange for further assistance.

    To be sure that they see you and stop to help, pull completely off the highway and raise your hood. The Green Angels patrol their assigned strip of highway at least twice a day, but only during daylight.
